Export Catalogue of Investments and Investment Services may appear in Azerbaijan

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The presentation of fourth Azerbaijan Export Catalogue (AEC) covering 2012 by Azerbaijan’s Marketing Society has led to raising of new idea in respect of investment export promotion from the country.

At the presentation Deputy Head of Public Political Department of Azerbaijan Presidential Administration Tahir Suleymanov reported that during the last years Azerbaijan is not only actively developing goods export but has also become foreign investor and support of this sector should not be forgotten either.

" Such events as winning of investment contest in Montenegro by State Oil Company (SOCAR) should not stay in background ",- T. Suleymaonov said. Yesterday Montenegro stated that it chose SOCAR the contest winner for turning former military base in tourism facility. SOCAR invests 258 million euros in this project.

In turn Board Chairman of AMS Rahim Huseynov noted that domestic investments in Azerbaijan’s infrastructure sharply increase investment and export potential of Azerbaijan’s private companies.

" By implementing projects in their country, these companies got rich experience of investment services which they use executing contracts in Georgia and a number of other countries ",- R. Huseynov said.

At that many companies remain "unrecognized" in their countries. Only SOCAR and Akkord’s investment projects are heard of abroad although Azerbaijani companies already conduct construction of telecommunication facilities in European countries for example. As a result, the issue on creation of Azerbaijan Export Catalogue of Investments and Investment Services has logically raised.

" Of course, there is such a need and sooner or later somebody should start doing it ",- R Huseynov said.

The AEC existing from 2008 includes already 86 companies engaged in spheres, priority for development of the country’s non-oil economy sector, such as processing and food industry, services ( primarily, information-communication technologies) and tourism. At that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will purchase 40% of the catalogue issues to distribute it through embassies and other diplomatic representative offices abroad

General sponsors of AEC 2012 were Azersun Holding, Gazelli Group, Spark Beton. The issue was also supported by ASB Bank, ATEF and STP.
