Italy, France, Israel, Indonesia, Russia and Turkey overstepped $1 bn barrier in trade with Azerbaijan in 2012

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The trio of Azerbaijan’s key trading partners for Jan-June 2012 underwent drastic changes as well as their Top 5. Last year the trio consisted of Italy, France, and Russia as well as in 2010. For Jan-June 2012 it was formed by Italy, France and Israel.

The State Customs Committee (SCC) informs that for Jan-June 2012 Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with the CIS counterparts totaled $1.65 bn or 9.65% of country’s overall foreign trade turnover ($17.171 bn) versus 15.1% in 2011, 14.47% in 2010, 16.15% in 2009 and 7.21% in 2008.

Over the reported term Azerbaijan exported to the CIS countries commodities for $537.354 million (4.23% of entire export) and imported for $1.119 bn (25.11%). As a result, the country had negative balance of $582.428 million in trade with these countries versus net surplus of $351.6 million in 2011.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover with non-CIS countries totaled $15.514 bn or 90.35% of country’s foreign trade turnover. Six months’ export to non-CIS countries reached $12.174 bn (95.77% of total export), import $3.339 bn (74.89% of entire import) and the country had $8.834 bn of positive balance with them against $16.46 bn in 2011.

As of 1 July 2012 TOP 5 of the key trade partners of Azerbaijan was as follows: Italy with overall trade turnover of $3.003 bn (import from Azerbaijan for $2.885 bn and export for $118.122 million), Israel - $1.357 bn ($1.323 bn and $33.757 million), France $1.172 bn ($1.096 bn and $76.084 million), Indonesia $1.15 bn ($1.128 bn and $22.219 million), Russia – $1.035 bn ($394.253 million and $640.9 million). Turkey became only the 6th by 1 July - $1.024 bn ($301.6 million and $723.1 million), the US – the 7th ($865.052 million, $627.827 million and $237.224 million respectively), Germany – the 8th ($864.643 million, $51.9 million and $344.6 million) , India- the 9th ($785.71 million, $737.057 million and $48.653 million).

The trio of trade partners consisted of Italy, Russia and France in 2010, Italy, USA and Russia in 2009, Italy, USA and Israel in 2008.
