Baku, Fineko/abc.az.  State «HALAL» standard ( food products meeting Shariah requirements) has been approved in Azerbaijan for the first time.

State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents of Azerbaijan reports that «HALAL» standards will come into force since 1 August 2012.

The Committee approved 3 such standards :

AZS 372-2012 «HALAL» standards for meat . general requirements to manufacturing, transportation, storage and sale",

AZS 386-2012 (CAC/GL 24-2012) " General requirements to use of HALAL term" ;

AZS 731-2012 (OIC/SMIIC1:2011) «HALAL food. General requirements ".

All the three standards have been developed by Azerbaijan Standard Institute and are compulsory. Earlier Malaysian HALAL standard was used in the country.
