Baku Higher Oil Academy of SOCAR to issue diplomas of Heriot Watt University

Baku, Fineko/ The Baku Higher Oil Academy, a new member of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Group has signed with Heriot Watt University an agreement on organization of education in English for first-year students and the issues of comprehensive cooperation between higher education institutions.

The SOCAR informs that for signing of the agreement Academy’s rector and ex-deputy education minister Elmar Gasimov paid a working visit to the UK. During the visit the sides also discussed academic and administrative issues of cooperation.

Earlier Gasimov stated that the Baku Higher Oil Academy would start education since 2012/13 academic year.

"The 100 students have already been selected to start education at 2 faculties - oil & gas engineering and chemical engineering. The education will be conducted on Heriot Watt University’s programs and with participation of its specialists. Following the education results the students will get diplomas of the Academy and Heriot Watt University,” Gasimov said then.

The training will be conducted in English and Azerbaijani languages. Training process will be organized in the building located at 30, Khojali Avenue. The Academy aims at covering deficit in high-professional cadres. Organization of scientific process and researches is expected in it as well.

Gasimov was assigned the Academy’s rector by the presidential decree.
