Baku, Fineko/abc.az. A meeting held in Baku yesterday between Azerbaijan’s Finance Minister Samir Sharifov and World Bank’s Regional Director for South Caucasus Henry Kerali, paying his first official visit to the region, was of introductory nature.

The Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan informs that the parties discussed such issues as condition and prospects of WB-financed projects in agriculture, health and infrastructure sectors. It was also presented economic strategy of Azerbaijan.

Yesterday in Baku the WB representative office informed that Mr. Kerali, after he made a visit to Georgia, arrived in Azerbaijan on 6 August and started talks with officials in Baku on 7 August.

On 8 August, Mr. Kerali will conduct negotiations with Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov and Ali Hasanov and will be received by Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh. The visit will last till 10 August. After meetings with officials Mr. Kerali also get acquainted with the Bank’s projects in Shemakha and Sheki, after which he will return to Georgia by road.

Mr. Kerali has only recently replaced Asad Alam on this post.
