Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Tender proposals were opened in head office of Azerbaijan International Bank on Monday, 6 June, 2011.

The IBA reports that the tender was announced to attract a consultant for creation of specialized agency on provision of Islamic banking’s services and products.

" Out of 7 participating companies 4 ones passed to the final stage ogf the tender. Among the finalists are : Ekvita & Islamic Finance Advisory Assurance Services, Ernst & Young с Baker McKenzie, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Salans and Pinsent Masons and KPMG consortiums. A meeting with the companies’ reps was held on Monday in the head office of th4e bank and envelopes with tender proposals were opened. Tender commission has already started assessment of proposals. During the next week we will name the winner and start arranging the agreement. From 1 July 2011 the IBA will commence the project realization and is planning to present a special agency on provision of Islamic banking’s services and products this autumn. In parallel the working group will work on the bill regulating Islamic banking’s activity in Azerbaijan",-head of working group on introduction of Islamic banking in IBA Behnam Gurbanzadeh noted.
