Initialing of Caspian security agreement postponed as minimum for January
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. At the recently-held Baku session the Caspian states’ experts decided to submit the draft agreement on Caspian Sea security for revision. Following the experts’ meeting deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov of Azerbaijan has informed that further co-ordination of the draft on the basis of the received proposals will take place in Baku in the 2nd half of next January. “The agreement says of co-operation of the littoral states in fight against terrorism, organized crime, illegal migration, arms smuggling and illicit drugs traffic, human traffic. Our objective is to reach consent on multilateral format, unite Caspian countries’ efforts to counteract global challenges,” Khalafov said. He also appraised the agreement prospects as ‘great’. “All the region’s states want to turn thre Caspian into the sea of friendship, peace and sustainability. And if they succeed in that, it will promote to their prosperity and development,” he stressed.
