Fall in Azerbaijani chemical sector reduces to 40.5%
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In October, 2009, rate in manufacture of chemical products decreased again in Azerbaijan. The State Statistics Committee (SSC) informed that in January to October, 2009, country’s manufacture of chemical products dropped by 40.5% (as compared to the 2008 same term), although in January slump was 57.5%, in March 79.7%, April 78.4%, May 59.8% and June 51%, July 52.1%, August – 48.1% and in September- 43.3%. Against this background production of rubber and plastics increased by 1.2% in April versus rise of 54.6% in March and 59.8% in January, and drop by 14.6% in October versus 13% in September, 20.2% in August, 19.3% in July, 13.3% in June and 9.3% in May. “In January to October, 2009, chemical production totaled AZN 135.8 million (including AZN 26.6 million in October against AZN 27.2 million in September) versus AZN 265.5 million over the last year,” it was informed. In January to October, 2009, production of liquid caustic soda (its output was not made in January and February) totaled 4,800 tons (-74.5% against the 2008 same term). Manufacture of propylene made 17,100 tons (-37.5%), polyethylene 32,400 tons (-45%), isopropanol 5,900 tons (-67.1%), varnish-and-paint products 2,158.2 tons (+1.5%). Perchloric acid was not produced in January to October. Production of plastic bags, pipes and other items of hard polyethylene totaled 2,019.2 tons (-41.6%), plastic windows and doors 371.2 tons (-52.3%). On 1st November, 2009, the data on remainder of the production was not given. On 1st October, 2009, cost of ready chemical products in warehouses of enterprises increased by AZN 1.2 million in August and made up AZN 23.7 million or 10.9% of overall balance of ready industrial products.
