Tengizchevroil transports through Caspian Sea to 500,000 tons of oil per month

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company is sure that  Kazakhstan will continue transportation of own oil through Azerbaijan in 2010.

Chief of the company Aydin Bashirov said that in connection with crisis they transferred small quantity of oil in the pipeline but say that transportations will be varied out through the Caspian Sea.

“We have a contract with Tengizchevroil (TCO). Today we transfer 250,000 tons of crude from Kazakhstan per month in  general transit on level of 450,000-500,000 tons. Under the contract, 50% of Kazakhstan’s oil is transported by Kazakhstan party and 50% - Azerbaijani one. Initially the volume of supplies in compliance with the contract with TCO was concluded on 2 million tons per annum, but it gradually increases now,” A. Bashirov told.

In 2010, TCO refused oil transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (TCO) and for the time being, directs all cargo to Batumi port by rail. It is expected that certain volume will be also transported  to a terminal in Kulevi in 2010.
