British Council subjected to training 63 Azerbaijani officials

Baku, Fineko/abc.az. In the frame of the EU Skills Project implemented by the British Council 63 officials from 24 government organisations have been trained at Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.

According to the British Council, trainings were conducted from November 2009 until present. The trainings were held by the trainers from the UK and other EU countries, who shared their experiences in enhancing negotiations skills, presentation skills, project management skills and PR&Media Management skills.

EU Skills is a project implemented by the British Council and funded by the UK Government’s Strategic Programme Fund. The goal of the project is to strengthen the capacity of local state institutions and agencies in South Caucasus to manage European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument and Eastern Partnership Instrument processes more effectively. The project started in April 2009. The project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and with the support of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy. The project consists of the following components and activities:

Capacity Building
Training sessions for government officials have been conducted in Azerbaijan throughout the duration of the project. The trainings run by European experts and have covered topics such as communication, negotiation, PR and media management, presentation and project management skills as well as European structures and terminology.

Experience Sharing
A study visit to Vilnius, Lithuania took place on March 6-12, 2010 that covers topics related to the EU Integration and Eastern Partnership Instrument. Azerbaijan has been represented by officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice from the government sector, director and chairman of the Society for Humanitarian Research and “IRELI” Public Union, from civil society sector. Participants familiarized themselves with the structure and functioning of European bodies as well as the work process that goes into the European Union’s operations.
