ADB: Central Asia is increasingly lagging behind economic trend of developing countries of Asia
Baku, Fineko / abc.az. Updated estimates of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) show: the region of Central Asia (all the Central Asian states and the three countries of the South Caucasus) is behind the rising economic trend of 44 developing Asian countries. The Bank informs that it raised the forecast for economic growth in 2010 for developing countries in Asia from 7.5% to 7.9%. And for India, the forecast was raised up to 8.2%. The forecast on Central Asia was increased as well, but in a more modest way - from 4.7% up to 4.8%. The region’s lagging from the overall trend of such Asian states is obviously increasing. For comparison, economic growth in Azerbaijan, one of the most dynamically developing countries of Central Asia, totaled only 3.7% in the first half of 2010.
