Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan has declared its agricultural products the purest in the world: it does not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and fertilizers for them brought to a minimum.

Agriculture Minister Ismet Abbasov of Azerbaijan has stated that the country does not need in the use of GMOs.

"Azerbaijan produces the most high-quality agricultural products, and therefore we are totally against the use of GMOs," he said.

According to the minister, only 10% of the required amount of fertilizers is used in the agricultural sector due to the high quality.

At the same time the minister considers it important to build a plant for the production of nitrogen fertilizers and urea, as today they are imported.

The carbamide plant is being built in the city of Sumgait. Completion of construction of the plant is scheduled for 2014.
