Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The foundation of nitrogen fertilizer & urea plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) was laid down yesterday in the city of Sumgait by President Ilham Aliyev.

The SOCAR reports that until 1 March 2012 the Company will accept tender bids for the construction of the enterprise, and in the 2nd quarter of 2012 it plans to select a contractor for its turnkey building.

The plant’s capacity is 1,200 tons of ammonia and 2,000 tons of urea per day. A separate legal entity – a urea plant located on an area of 24 hectares was established in the SOCAR structure on 1 September.
