Azerbaijan and Russia signed a two-year cooperation programme in culture
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Today Azerbaijan’s and Russia’s Ministers of Culture Abulfaz Garayev and Alexander Avdeyev signed a culture cooperation programme 2009-2010. Avdeyev said the document neatly and compactly indicates how we will act in the area of culture during the forthcoming two years. “The document stipulates cooperation in exchange of students, cultural figures, exhibitions, days of culture etc. at the interstate level as well as within cooperation of Azerbaijan with Russian regions,” Avdeyev stated. He highly appreciated Azerbaijani’s careful attitude to Russian language noting that sometimes Azerbaijanis speak Russian better than in Russia. “We are interested in Azerbaijan and your culture,” Avdeyev said. He underlined Azerbaijan makes a precious contribution to development of Russia’s culture. “Azerbaijani culture is a part of our culture. That is our treasury we are proud of,” Avdeyev emphasized. Minister Garayev said that Russia-Azerbaijan relations in culture have old roots and strengthened by many documents. “We are not limited only with the interstate-level works as we are co-operating actively with Russia’s regions as well. Contacts between our countries’ cultural figures are permanent,” Garayev said. According to Garayev, the document determines a certain Action Plan, which will be the basis for their further activity.
