Azerbaijan and Georgia delimitate their border according to the Russian Empire maps of early XX century
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Russian cartographers’ experience was useful at the Georgia-Azerbaijan state border delimitation process.
Garib Mammadov, Chairman of Azerbaijan State Committee for Land and Cartography, said that the Azerbaijan-Georgia state border delimitation issues appeared because of the differences between maps of 1905 and 1938 years.
It has been agreed more than 300 kilometers out of 490-km border. The border is defined with help of 1:100,000 scaled map.
Earlier Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said Azerbaijan would like to hold the next Meeting in the first quarter of 2009.
We should note that the map of year 1905 contains differences not between Georgia and Azerbaijan, but between Tiflis and Elisabethpol Governorates of the Russian Empire.
