Azerbaijan to finish soon construction of Imishli-Parsabad connecting power line to expand power flow with Iran
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan and Iran are finishing construction of the 2nd power transmission line Imishli-Parsabad. Referring to Bakikhan Nasirov, the director of Imishli High-Voltage Grid LLC, state electric company Azerenerji’s press service has reported of installation of three line-in connectors at 330 KV substation based in Imishli to expand its capacity. “A 330 KV power transmission line to connect power line Imishli-Shirvan thermal power station and power line Imishli-Parsabad (Iran) is under construction. It is planned to complete this project in the near future,” Nasirov said. After construction is finished, power exchange between the two neighboring countries will rise from 200 MWt up to 700 MWt. The project includes construction of 330 KV power lines Shirvan thermal power station – Imishli and Imishli-Parsabad (this is the second power line), 220 KV power lines Alibayramli thermal power station – Salyan, Salyan-Masalli, Masalli-Astara and a modern Salyan substation. Within the project length of power transmission lines exceeds 350 km. Within his Baku visit this June Iranian energy minister Seyid Parviz Fattah obtained breakthrough in the issue of creation of a workgroup at the level of deputy energy ministers to draft an agreement on North-South energy transport corridor from Russia to Iran through Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is ready to sign the agreement on creation of the corridor. After agreement signing and creation of Russia-Azerbaijan-Iran corridor, it will also become possible to export Azerbaijani power to Turkey via Iranian energy system. The arrangements between the parties will be registered as a protocol. Creation of the corridor was delayed for a long time because of disagreements between Russia and Iran. Russia supported free sales of power and Iran – power exchange.
