Baku, Fineko/abc.az. President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Thomas Mirow will arrive in Azerbaijan.

The EBRD Baku office informs that the visit will take place on March 15.

Within the framework of the visit T. Mirow will meet with President Ilham Aliyev and other high-ranking public officials. Aim of the visit is to discuss continuation of cooperation of the Bank with the Azerbaijani government, rendering of long-term backing during transition period to market economy.

Since 1992 Azerbaijan is member of EBRD. During period of cooperation with Azerbaijan the Bank has granted loans in the amount of more than $1 billion for implementation of over 90 projects in Azerbaijan in sphere of infrastructure, corporate sector, energy industry and financial sector.

In 2010, ЕБРР plans to provide $220 million for implementation of 12 projects in Azerbaijan. Projects in the field of natural resources, telecommunications, agro-industrial complex, financial sector will be priority-oriented for the Bank during the current year.
