Azerpoct invites bids for computer equipment for postal offices
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Within Financial Sector Development Project (FSDP) being implemented by the Azerbaijani government jointly with World Bank Group (WBG) Azerpoct (national postal operator) has announced a tender procedure for purchase of computer equipment facilities for connection in postal offices. The project executive group says that the tender was announced for purchase of desktop ((UPS, operating system and antivirus); multitask machine (copy templet, fax machine, scanner, printer); matrix printer. Tender participation cost is AZN 300 or $375. Each bid should be guaranteed for $8,000. The bids must be submitted till 3:30 pm 1 December 2009 at the address: 36, Uzeir Hajibeyov Str. Due to the amendments to the Law on Postal Services postal offices got the right to render financial and bank services such as certain settlements, issue of debit and credit cards, receipt of deposits, fast money transfers. Only crediting makes an exception. Postal offices cannot deal with crediting. For development of such activity Universal Postal Union has already provided STEFI software for country’s post office for fast money transfers. At present postal offices are unready to render financial and bank services to the population. Although such work is also carried out within the project realized jointly with World Bank within FSDP. Only after post offices are ready for such services on all parameters of risk, information security, and staff potential they will receive relevant license. Total cost of FSDP is $17.75 million, including $12.25 million WB credit and the rest will be covered by the Azerbaijani government. By the present measures stipulated by the project have been realized by more than 50% and the whole organization and preparatory process will be completed by the end of 2009. Related news
