Azerbaijani consumers’ main problem is municipal monopolists
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Free Consumers Union of Azerbaijan (FCUA) resolved itself more than 400 problems of consumers in Azerbaijan over the year. On March 17, chairman of the Union Eyub Huseynov said in a conference on protection of consumers’ rights that the Union received 472 complaints from consumers during the year. “We could resolve 91 % of these problems themselves by negotiations, not appealing to courts and other bodies of power, appeals were sent to the government concerning 8% of cases and court hearings were held on 1%. The majority of the cases were connected with public utilities for gas, electricity and so on. Consumers face large problems in this area. We still insist on conclusion of a equal treaty of consumers with these municipal monopolists,” E. Huseynov told. The conference titled “Protection of consumers’ rights: reality and prospects” was held and was organized by the Public Service on Antimonopoly Policy and Protection of Consumers’ Rights at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development. The event was dedicated to World Consumer Rights Day, which is celebrated on March 15. Tags: consumers Related news
