National Computer Project becomes first project implemented successfully in Eastern European countries
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies carried out a final conference on completion of the first stage of pilot project “National computer”, which is implemented by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies together with Azerbaijani Ministry of Education and HP and Microsoft companies. Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Valizade said that social significance of the project is obvious. “Very profitable terms to purchase computers were created for teachers. In addition, the new culture of application of license software is being formed,” E. Valizade said. Managing Director of BestComp company, which is operator of the project, Rauf Hasanov said that the project started on April 10. Over this period, 3,500 computers were sold and 300 agreements have already been concluded. “Teachers from Baku, as well as Salyan and Guba became the most active. It is interesting that computers with more expensive configuration are in demand. 3,055 teachers bought computers to the sum of AZN 699,” R. Hasanov said. Director of group of the personal computer systems of НР of CIS Sergey Plaksin said that National Computer Project became the first project, which is implemented successfully in Eastern European countries. “We want especially to note innovation approach of the government to implementation of the project,” S. Plaksin said. National Computer Project aims at creating conditions to purchase modern computers and license software of different social layers of population, reduction of «digital inequality» by means of expansion of introduction of ICT in regions, as well as support of activity of the Azerbaijani government, oriented to development of information society and electronic government.
