Ukraine begins constructing a terminal for SOCAR’s gas
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Ukraine is starts constructing a terminal for accepting gas from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
Minister of Energy & Coal Industry of Ukraine Yury Boyko has stated that a terminal project will be ready from 1 January 2012, and they are beginning to build it.
"The project is a real diversification of gas supplies to our country," Boyko said. Currently four sites for the terminal location are under consideration. At primary stage its capacity will be 5 bn cu m and at the second stage 10 bn cu m of gas.
This week, Azerbaijan and Ukraine have agreed on a joint venture of SOCAR and Naftagaz Ukraine for gas transportation. The parties have a protocol of intentions on supplies of 10 bn cu m of gas to Ukraine.
At that, before the end of 2011 Ukraine wants to carry out restructuring of Naftagaz.
