Sale of excise duty stamps for tobacco and strong drinks in Azerbaijan rose by 71.2% this May
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Last month Azerbaijan registered growth of domestic demand for excise duty stamps for tobacco and strong drink sales, although it was not as rapid as in April (+2.5 fold). The State Committee for Securities (SSC) has reported that this May sale of excise duty stamps rose by 71.2%. “In May 2008 it was sold 146.2 million excise duty stamps. Of them 125.4 million excise duty stamps were sold for tobacco. Sale of stamps for strong drinks reached 9.8 million. As a result, in Jan-May 2008 it was allocated AZN 351.5 million, including 303 million stamps for domestic production and 48.5 million for import,” the Committee said. For five months it was realized 302.5 million stamps for tobacco goods (297.5 million ones for import) and 26 million stamps for alcohol drinks (23.5 million ones for domestic production). Beer stamps reached 23 million ones (20 million stamps for domestic production). There were no requests for ethyl alcohol in Jan-May.
