Azerbaijan observes 61% fall in state securities turnover
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. Summarizing the results of January and October, 2009, Azerbaijani state securities market fell by 61% compared to last year’s same term and reached $3.461 bn in accord with exchange rate by the reported date. The State Securities Committee (SCC) informs that as of 1st November, 2009, the volume of state securities market made AZN 2.78 bn versus AZN 7.177 bn in January to October, 2008 or 2.6 fold less. “Over the first 9 months of the year 882 deals were registered in SCC versus 1,964 deals for last year’s same period,” it was informed. This year’s market is still provided mainly by repo transactions with state securities, turnover on which (AZN 1.87 bn on 654 deals) dropped by 63% compared to the 2008 same term (AZN 5.108 bn on 1,460 deals). Placement of short-term notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) fell by 81% (AZN 338.239 million on 77 deals versus AZN 1.7 bn on 375 deals a year before). Tags: state securities Related news
