Milli Majlis suggests budget financing for treatment of children with cardiac anomaly
Baku, Fineko/abc.az. The Azerbaijani parliament is concerned with the level of medical support in the country. At yesterday’s Milli Majlis session MP Ganira Pashayeva claimed that the situation with children’s heart diseases and first of all with cardiac failure was quite sensitive. “This sector needs governmental support, and I suggest addition of expenditures for help to children with this heart disease as a separate point in the Law on State Budget 2010 during its consideration,” she said. A year ago health minister Ogtay Shiraliyev of Azerbaijan pointed out that the Health Ministry was not able yet to ensure surgical aid to all children with cardiac anomaly. “Over the last 2-2.5 years it has been carried out 393 heart surgeries, 19 ones out of which led by foreign specialists. By today Azerbaijan has registered 1,929 children aged under 13 years suffering from heart disease as well as 228 teenagers at the age of 14-17. Thus, total number makes 2,157 children,” Shiraliyev said. The minister noted that the Health Ministry was working in this direction to ensure relevant help to all the children needing aid. “The country’s President ordered to allocate AZN 5 million for equipping the Child’s Cardiosurgery Center. At the moment the Center is under major repairs, but we have allocated assets for equipment and specialists. We will try to put the Center into operation till the end of 2008 in order to solve current problem in the country,” Shiraliyev stated. Related news
