August 29, Fineko/abc.az. The European Union (EU) has faced serious challenges after the imposition of sanctions against Russia, EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said in an interview with Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung on Sunday.

“As long as the Russian economy depends on oil and gas, they will need our technologies. Russia is in trouble. And of course, we will face serious challenges in the short term. It cannot be denied that gas prices are rising. But we must be willing to pay the price for freedom. Because the war in Ukraine is not only a war of Ukrainians, but also a war for our freedom,” Josep Borrell said.

He called the energy crisis ‘the worst crisis Europe has ever experienced.’

“First the debt crisis, then the pandemic, and now energy. The only solution is unity,” he said.
