Germany and UAE sign a contract on LNG supplies to Germany

September 26, Fineko/abc.az. During his visit to the UAE, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz signed an agreement with President of the Emirates, Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in the field of energy security and industrial development, ABC.AZ reports with reference to Al-Arabiya.

At that, Abu Dhabi emirate’s oil & gas company Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed a contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany to RWE. ADNOC will deliver the first batch of LNG at the end of 2022 as part of a trial operation: gas will be delivered to a floating LNG receiving terminal in Brunsbuttel in northern Germany.

The day before, Scholz went on a trip to the countries of the Persian Gulf to conclude new agreements on the supply of energy resources. Media reports noted that Scholz hopes not only to conclude agreements on LNG supplies, but also to expand cooperation in the field of new technologies. In particular, this concerns the production of eco-friendly hydrogen.

On Saturday, the German chancellor visited Saudi Arabia. Further, after the UAE, Scholz will travel to Doha, where he will meet with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
