Obvious signs of latent diabetes

16:08 - 8.06.2018

June 8, Fineko/abc.az. Timely detection of prediabetes is as well important as the diagnosis of diabetes. Thus, the timely detection of prediabetes or patients with latent diabetes by 50% reduces the risk of diabetes of the second type.

Who is at risk?

- Persons suffering from excess weight

- Patients with hypertension

- Women with polycystic ovary

- Women who were diagnosed with gestational diabetes during pregnancy

- Persons with a family history of diabetes

Diagnosis of latent diabetes is possible.  The body gives a large number of "signals", and if we pay attention to them, the timely diagnosis is possible.

Vision loss

In diabetes mellitus, capillaries (small vessels) are primarily affected, as a result of which, in the form of the first sign, deterioration or blurred vision is possible. Examination of the fundus plays an important role in early diagnosis.

Thirst

Regardless of the air temperature, the patient constantly feels the need to drink and, in parallel, excretion of urine and sweat also increases. The cause of that is an increase in blood glucose, due to which the body tries to remove it through urine and sweat.  If you wake up at night twice or more times from the urge to urinate, you should be attentive. And after urination, of course, there is a thirst.

Sudden changes in the skin

There may be loss or, on the contrary, increase in weight. The weight can decrease and then increase again.

Peeling and itching of skin

As a result of the level of glucose above norm, metabolism in the body is broken, and skin, nails and hair primarily affected during the metabolic processes.

Fungal infection

Disorders of metabolism and microcirculation lead to violation of the protective function of the skin and create favorable conditions for the formation of fungus. Sugar also plays an important role in creating favorable conditions for development of the fungus.

Long-term course of the disease, long healing of wounds

The classic symptom of diabetes is the duration of the disease and slow healing of wounds. And the cause of that is the weakening of the immune system due to metabolic disorders.

Neurosis, depression and irritation

The main "food" of brain tissues is glucose. And if the blood glucose level is higher than normal in patients with diabetes, insulin cannot deliver it to the tissues. As a result, "glucose starvation" forms in the brain tissues and the nervous system disrupts. Also, frequent urination at night and sleep rhythm disturbance have a negative impact on the psycho-emotional state.
