Excise tax for cigarettes to triple from July

June 27, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a law on the amendments to the Tax Code.

The changes relate to the increase in the tax rate applied to tobacco products.

In compliance with the changes to Article 190-3.7 of the Tax Code, the excise rate will be 20 manats for every 1,000 cigars produced, while so far the rate has been 10 manats.

According to the changes to Article 190-3.8 of the Tax Code, the excise rate will be 12 manats for every 1,000 cigarettes produced from tobacco and its substitutes, while so far the excise rate has been 4 manats.

The amendments will enter into force from 1 July 2018.
