July 6, Fineko/abc.az. Baku Metro Company has promptly responded to the instructions of the head of state and began developing the proposals for improvement of the energy system of the underground public transport.

BMC reports that the proposals and issues relating to the measures to be taken will be agreed with the relevant governmental agencies, as well as with heads and specialists of the energy sector.

"The proposals concerning ensuring the quality energy supply are also provided for in the Baku Metro Perspective Development Scheme, approved by the head of state on 18 March 2011. So, at the new third station of the violet line under construction, a diesel generator station with capacity of 16 MW is being built in parallel, which will serve all three stations of the line," BMC said.

A substation with capacity of 12 MW and two diesel generator stations will be built on the violet line to supply 12 metro stations. In the future, additional sources of electricity will be provided at all metro stations.

In the Soviet times during the construction of the metro there were not provided any additional sources of energy and, if necessary, batteries installed at substations were used. Technical equipment and installations of the Baku Metro are provided with 220 transformers with monthly capacity of 12 million kWh.
