July 19, Fineko/abc.az. Introduction of a new state duty for receipt of excise duty stamps in Azerbaijan is expected to lead to the change of form of regulation of turnover of excisable products.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on the amendments to the Law on State Duty. Under the amendments, Azerbaijan will introduce a new state duty for obtaining excise stamps. The amendments envisage collection of the state duty for excise stamp for alcoholic beverages in the amount of 0.06 manats and for tobacco products 0.05 manats.

This is a new type of state duty to be applied in Azerbaijan for the first time. Previously, excise stamps were sold to entrepreneurs by the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan. Cost of excise stamps for alcoholic beverages was 0.016 manats, for tobacco products 0.0075 manats and for beer 0.008 manats.

The increase in the cost of excise stamps linked with plans for the use of track-trace (T&t) system in the circulation of excisable products. This system will create an opportunity to control excisable products from the manufacturer and importer to the end user. The increase in prices is linked with the fact that cost of excise stamps of modern generation to be introduced in Azerbaijan will be more expensive than the excise stamps used currently.
