17:21 - 30.08.2018

August 30, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.

President Aliyev said during the meeting that Azerbaijan and Georgia have implemented jointly many important projects.

"We’ve changed the world energy map. Joint transport projects are important for the Eurasian continent. Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey are actively cooperating in the implementation of all these projects. I believe we should make additional efforts to increase trade turnover. I know Georgia has good investment climate, and we are glad Azerbaijan has been one of the first foreign investors for many years," the head of state said.

He also underlined that a number of issues, including matters of regional cooperation, will be discussed today.

In his turn, the Georgian PM said that Azerbaijan and Georgia are strategic partners and jointly implemented programs are really important at the regional level and the level of international cooperation.

"We have great achievements in the field of transport, energy and other areas at the regional level. Of course, there is a great potential, and I hope we’ll be able to develop this potential with implementation of new projects. Trade turnover between our countries is growing, perhaps this year it will be brought up to $1 billion, but there is even more potential," the PM said.

He added that in the next two years two countries’ trade turnover can be increased by another 50-60%.
