Energy Charter Conference to be held in Baku in 2020

September 21, Fineko/abc.az. The Energy Charter Conference will be held in Baku in 2020.

The Ministry of Energy reports that Azerbaijan has put forward its candidacy for the chairmanship of the Energy Charter Conference in 2020.

"According to the Azerbaijani side, Baku is the most suitable place for this event, taking into account the full commissioning of the Southern Gas Corridor during this period," the Ministry informed.

According to the Ministry, Armenia and Mongolia also claimed for the chairmanship in the Conference in 2020, but in the end it was decided to hold the event in Baku.

The conference will be held in Armenia in 2021 and in Mongolia in 2022.

The Energy Charter Conference is an international intergovernmental organization established on the basis of the 1994 Energy Charter Treaty.

Energy Charter Conference is an organization for intergovernmental cooperation in the energy sector, including in its member ranks the states which are producers, consumers and transit countries of energy. Although Conference’s activity is limited to only one sector of the economy - energy, it covers international cooperation of states in the field of investment, trade, transit of energy resources, environmental aspects related to energy.
