16:32 - 10.11.2017

Several hacker attacks on Azerbaijani banks have been registered for the past 2 years.

The relevant statement was made by Mushfig Mammadov, the head of the Azerbaijani-based representative office of Kaspersky Lab.

He stated that the attacks were averted, and the banks were given recommendations on the future prevention: "The main thing in this question is increasing of awareness of bank employees".

Mammadov stressed that hacker attacks worldwide are of a similar nature: "First, information about the bank’s employees and the system administrator is gathered online and in social networks. With the purpose to steal data of an authorized officer he is sent an email with a link which leads to downloading a special program. After that, hackers can carry out any operation."

Mammadov did not disclose the names of Azerbaijani banks, subjected to hacker attacks. He, however pointed out that his Company cooperates on the occasion with Dəmirbank.

In February 2017 Dəmirbank was hit by a hacker attack. Despite information on stolen 3 million US dollars, Dəmirbank has denied the information about the intervention in the clients’ accounts.
