Azerbaijan and Russia widen nuclear energy cooperation

November 26, Fineko/abc.az. Minister of Transport, Communications & High Technologies Ramin Guluzade of Azerbaijan met in Moscow with the leadership of state corporation Rosatom within his visit to Russia.

The Ministry reports that during the meeting the issues of improvement of material and technical base in the field of nuclear science and strengthening of highly qualified personnel potential were discussed.

"Guluzade pointed out that the National Nuclear Research Centre has been operating in Azerbaijan since 2014. Among the directions of Centre’s activity are peaceful use of nuclear technologies in accordance with the requirements of time and national interests, strengthening of human resources and expansion of research. Today, Azerbaijan pays special attention to the formation of highly qualified personnel potential. The domestic leading universities have already started the process of training in this area," the minister emphasized.

The meeting parties also exchanged views on the occasion of study of experience of developed nuclear countries, expansion of cooperation and other questions of mutual interest.

Rosatom is Russia’s largest organization on nuclear power, construction of nuclear power plants, design, production of various innovative nuclear products, supercomputers, scientific research in the field of software. The corporation ranks 2nd in the world on uranium reserves and 4th on its production, providing 17% of the nuclear fuel market.
