Russian leader discussed with energy minister course of talks OPEC+ on oil production cuts

16:20 - 7.12.2018

December 7, Fineko/abc.az. Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Energy Minister Alexander Novak the questions relating to the ongoing Vienna negotiations on oil production cuts within the OPEC+ format.

The statement was made by Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

"He (Putin) has repeatedly met with Novak (in St. Petersburg on Thursday),” he said. “First of all, their conversation certainly touched the questions that were on the agenda of the held EurAsEC summit. But the matters raised by the Vienna OPEC meeting were also covered."

The Kremlin representative did not comment on talks themselves. He said it will be done by Novak, who is already visiting Vienna.

At a meeting in Vienna on 5-7 December the OPEC+ ministers are discussing the possibility of production cuts in 2019 to avoid oversupply of oil supply due to growth of production in the U.S. and the easing of sanctions against Iran.
