December 21, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expanded the powers of the Ministry of Taxes.

The Tax Ministry’s authority has been broadened within the framework of yesterday's amendments to the Tax Code.

According to the amendments, the Tax Ministry has been given the authority for manufacture of excise duty stamps, their sale and accounting, as well as provision of exporters and importers with excise stamps. Earlier, the Tax Ministry carried out activity in the field of ordering, selling and accounting of excise duty stamps.

The problem of the lack of coordinated state regulation over the circulation of excise stamps and labeled products has been repeatedly raised by both experts and local importers. It was also noted about the inefficiency of Finance Ministry’s participation in the process, given the fact that precisely the Tax Ministry is the basic regulator of excise duty stamp activity.
