AZAL detains baggage of 50 passengers of Baku-Petersburg flight at airport

11:40 - 14.01.2019

January 14, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan’s national airline AZAL left part of the baggage of the passengers of the plane flying to St. Petersburg at the Baku airport on Sunday, 13 January.

Internet newspaper neva.today reports that flight J2 019 arrived in the northern capital at 11 am, and after the passengers went to the luggage belts after passport control, it turned out that the luggage of some of them remained in Baku.

Later, reps of the carrier explained that the citizens allegedly took with them too many bags, which caused a risk of overload. It was decided to leave some of the suitcases in the Azerbaijani capital, and then transfer them to St. Petersburg on Monday morning.

According to preliminary estimates, about 50 passengers were left without luggage. Some of them complained in social networks about "the same type of cellophane-packed bags received in a large number by some gloomy people". People suspect that space on board for their luggage was not found precisely because of that.
