Protocol on Trans-Caspian Transport Route signed in Baku

January 18, Fineko/abc.az. Baku hosted a session of the General Meeting of the Legal Entities’ Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" (TITR).

Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) informs that the session was chaired by ADY chair Javid Gurbanov.

"The session participants discussed the approval of the S. M. Mynbaev as Association’s chairman of board, transfer of Batumi Sea Port LLC from ranks of Association’s permanent members in associate members, the report on the results of Association's activity in 2018, approval of volume of transportation via the TITR for 2019, information of the TITR workgroup on the endorsed tariff rates via the TITR for 2019, selection and approval of an auditor company to audit financial and economic activity of enterprises in 2018, approval of Association’s budget 2019, approval of the marketing plan 2019, approval of the Regulation on business trips of employees and the Regulation on representative expenses of the Association," ADY reported.

During the discussion, it was stressed importance of effective use of TITR potential, need to attract cargo flows via this route. The sides focused on the question of great potential for increasing the efficiency of transportation via this route and improving the efficiency of mutual coordination. The participating countries are taking consistent measures to develop further this corridor.

One of the most important achievements in improving the TITR competitiveness is commissioning of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway creates conditions for growth of cargo transportation between Europe and Asia, contributing to development of cooperation and trade not only between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, but also in the entire region of Eurasia.

During discussions it was also stated about termination of powers of Kanat Alpysbayev on the post of the chairman of board of Kazakhstan Railways. In this regard, Association’s session participants stopped ahead of schedule the powers of Kanat Alpysbayev on the post of Association’s chairman of board.

Sauat Mynbayev, current head of Kazakhstan Railways, has been endorsed as the new chairman of board of the Association.

A protocol was signed following the two-day event with participation of ADY chair Javid Gurbanov, Kazakhstan Railways’ deputy chairman of board Sanjar Yelubayev, Georgian Railways’s CEO David Peradze, Ukrainian Railways’ board member Remigiush Pashkevich, State Turkish Railways’ CEO for cargo carriages Veysi Kurt, Aktau International Sea Trade Port’s chair Abay Turikpenbaev, Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company’s chair Rauf Veliyev, and Baku International Sea Trade Port’s CEO Taleh Ziyadov.
