February 9, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan and Russia agreed to start joint export of specialized and commercial vehicles to Iran.

The groundbreaking ceremony of a plant producing commercial vehicles and special purpose vehicles of companies Azermash and Russian automaker GAZ Group has been held in the Hajigabul Industrial Town today.

The ceremony was attended by Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev of Azerbaijan and Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin of Russia.

Azermash’s chairman of board Emin Akhundov stated that commissioning of the enterprise is scheduled for the end of 2020.

"At primary stage we plan to export cars to Iran, as there is a great potential in this direction, given the fact that Azerbaijan has already established automobile partnership, it would be easier for us to achieve appropriate results than for the Russian side. Although GAZ Group, too, has held relevant talks," Akhundov emphasized.
