Azerbaijan has developed Cyber Security Strategy

March 11, Fineko/abc.az. Cyber Security Week has started in Baku with the support of the Ministry of Transport, Communications & High Technologies.

Elmir Velizade, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications & High Technologies, stated at the opening ceremony, which began with a seminar of Microsoft, that the question of cyber security is a priority for the state and the government amid the latest reforms.

"Later last year the Cabinet Ministers discussed the matter of the Cyber Security Strategy, which is now under the process of coordination. We believe the Strategy will be adopted in the near future and will allow deepening the cyber security measures, in particular to ensure coordination of activity in this sphere and launch appropriate measures," the deputy minister said.

He also spoke about the importance of Cyber Security Week and that such events are going to become regular in the future.

Addressing to the opening ceremony, Microsof Azerbaijan’s head Sarkhan Gashimov said that the number of cyber attacks in Azerbaijan has increased in recent years that testifies about country’s attractiveness for hackers.

"We hope that as a result of joint work of the private and public sectors, a better legislative framework will be developed, joint and more effective measures will be taken to prevent hacker attacks," Gashimov emphasized.
