AZAL cancels purchase of Boeing 737 MAX-8

June 3, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has reported that as a result of the analysis of two air crashes that occurred with Boeing 737 MAX-8, AZAL appealed to Boeing Corporation for termination of the current contract.

Azerbaijani airline Silk Way Airlines and Boeing signed a contract for the purchase of 10 Boeing 737 MAX-8 passenger aircrafts. AZAL should have been the operator of those planes.

However, two such aircrafts crashed on 29 October 2018 and 10 March 2019, so some airlines temporarily suspended the operation of Boeing 737 MAX-8 until the results of the investigation of the incidents.
