June 4, Fineko/abc.az. Arastun Hasanov, the head of the Department of Integrated Environmental Monitoring of the Caspian Sea under the Ministry of Ecology & Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, believes that the high pollution of a number of beaches poses a danger to human health.

He points out that the analysis and monitoring conducted on the beaches shows that the quantity of hazardous substances exceeds the norm on such beaches as Turkan, Hovsan, Shikhovo, Sahil settlement of Garadagh district, as well as some of the beaches of Sumgait.

For this reason, citizens are not recommended to use the above-mentioned beaches.

According to the analysis, the beaches of Bilgah, Mardakan, Nardaran, Novkhani, Pirshagi, Zagulba, Shuvelan and Buzovna are suitable for recreation and swimming.

"Currently, monitoring is being carried out in the southern and northern parts of the Caspian Sea, water samples and sediments are being analyzed," Hasanov emphasized.
