Azerbaijan’s FM takes part in 7th meeting of Caspian states’ FMs

December 5, Fineko/abc.az. Moscow is hosting the 7th meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Caspian States.

The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reports that Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov called on to make "maximum efforts" to coordinate the Draft Convention on Caspian Sea Status.

"FM Mammadyarov considers that the littoral countries have carried out a valuable work on the Draft Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea. He pointed out that over the past period the negotiating process participants performed important work on the Draft Convention," the Ministry said in a statement.

According to Mammadyarov, the decisions and agreements reached at the five-party high-level meetings contributed to a significant rapprochement of positions of all Caspian States, and gave impetus to the negotiation process and strengthening of good neighborly relationships. In addition, they contributed to strengthening of fruitful cooperation and maintaining the stability in the Caspian region.

In addition, the Azerbaijani FM underlined the necessity to "make every effort to obtain consensus on all open issues" before the 5th Caspian States’ Summit in Kazakhstan.
