Deputy FM: Azerbaijan's entry in WTO in next couple of years is scarcely probable

December 12, Fineko/abc.az. Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev considers Azerbaijan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as improbable in the next few years.

"The question of accession to the WTO still remains actual for Azerbaijan. However, I don’t believe it is possible in the next one to two years," he added.

Azerbaijan applied for WTO membership in 1997.

In 2007 Azerbaijan signed a bilateral protocol with Turkey on completion of negotiations on accession to the WTO, in May 2008 with Oman and the UAE, in May 2010 with Georgia, and in 2012 with Kyrgyzstan.
