December 13, Fineko/abc.az. An emergency summit of OIC Muslim-majority countries is taking place in Istanbul, Turkey, today.

Addressing to the meeting, Palestinian President Makhmud Abbas said that “Jerusalem is and always will be the capital of Palestine”.

“Donald Trump’s decision and instruction contradicts contrary to international law and, in particular, UN resolutions. The US lost the right to mediation in the Middle East peace talks. We don’t accept US’ mediation. We want you to support our decision," President Abbas said.

He underlined that the purpose of the OIC emergency summit is to resist the change in the current status of Jerusalem.

On 6 December US President Donald Trump announced the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. He also instructed the State Department to begin work on transfer of the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
