Baku Olympic Stadium gets in Top 5 of largest CIS football arenas

October 10, Fineko/abc.az. Turstat portal has presented the rating of the most capacious stadiums in the CIS countries whose teams participate in the selection for the UEFA European Football Championship 2020 (EURO 2020).

Football stadiums in Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine are in Top 10 on terms of capacity among the stadiums of the CIS countries and near abroad.

The Olympic Stadium in Baku, designed for almost 69,000 spectators, will host EURO 2020 matches.

Top 10 of CIS countries’ stadiums by capacity includes the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow (81,000 spectators), the Olympic Stadium in Kiev (70,000), the Olympic Stadium in Baku (69,000), the St. Petersburg Stadium (Gazprom Arena) (68,000), the stadium n.a. Boris Paichadze in Tbilisi (55,000), Razdan stadium in Yerevan (54,000), ‘Nizhny Novgorod’ stadiums in Nizhny Novgorod (45,000) and Mordovia Arena in Saransk (44,000), Metalist Stadium in Kharkiv (40,000) and Kaliningrad Stadium (35,000).

The Baku-based Bakcell Arena stadium, intended for up to 15,000 people, was also included in Top 15.

The rating is based on the analysis of data on the number of seats at stadiums.
