December 26, Fineko/abc.az. State agency Azerbaijani Highways is taking steps to improve the quality of the Baku road infrastructure.

Agency’s spokesman Anar Najafli says that a new road tunnel is being built in front of the Baku Olympic Stadium for elimination of traffic jams near the Koroglu metro station and on Ziya Bunyadov Avenue.

"Traffic jams in this area are created due to the fact that at rush hour the motor cars from Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, heading towards the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, doing a u-turn at the bridge near Koroglu metro station for going to Heydar Aliyev Avenue.The new tunnel will allow going to the airport road directly from Ziya Bunyadov Avenue," Najafli said.

He added that length of the tunnel to be commissioned in 2018 will be 655 m.
