Azerbaijan to export cherries and pomegranates to Nigeria - dependence on Russian market decreases

February 3, Fineko/abc.az. Peas, rice, jams, dried fruits were sent from Azerbaijan to Pakistan and South Korea as an example. The first steps have been taken, and export operations are expected to take place in the near future.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to Agricultural Procurement & Supply OJSC, along with the listed countries, in 2019 Azerbaijan exported cherries and pomegranates to Nigeria and pears, cherries and eggs to Dubai. Azerbaijan is negotiating about export with the countries of the Persian Gulf, Eastern and Central Europe, Africa, China, Singapore, India and other new countries. In addition, due to the abundance of products in Azerbaijan in 2019 the country’s sales in the Russian markets increased. Contracts were signed with more than 20 companies, new innovative packaging was used during the export process, business ties were established with new markets for Azerbaijan, and export of Azerbaijani products was carried out.

The company reports that the main goal is to minimize dependence on the Russian market and give more advantages to alternative markets.
