Donald Trump: OPEC did not demand from U.S. to cut oil production

13:04 - 7.04.2020

April 7, Fineko/abc.az. OPEC did not demand from the U.S. to reduce oil production.

The above-said statement was made by US leader Donald Trump. He noted that OPEC does not required from American oil producers to cut oil production for the support of global prices.

Noting that oil production is declining in the U.S., Trump said: "I think it happens automatically."

"No one asked the U.S. not to participate in the global agreement. No one wanted me to reduce production. If they want something like this, I will make a decision," the US president emphasized.

According to experts, the OPEC+ countries will hardly be able to agree on production cuts without the participation of the U.S. With the support of such countries as the U.S., Norway, Canada and Brazil, oil production could be cut to 15 million bpd.

On 9 April a meeting of the ministers of OPEC and non-OPEC member countries will be held in the format of a videoconference.
