June 25, Fineko/abc.az. At the plenary session of the extraordinary session of the Parliament held today, the draft amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code was submitted for discussion in the 3rd reading.

ABC.AZ reports that the proposed change in the Code defined the procedure for confiscation of foreign property.

In the proposed amendment to the Code, it was noted that a sentence passed in Azerbaijan or other final decision on the seizure of foreign property must be executed within five days from the date of its entry into legal force. The property is sent to the General Prosecutor's Office together with all the materials of the criminal case for the purpose of confiscation of property abroad as part of legal assistance and ensuring the return of the property or its value to the country. The General Prosecutor’s Office must take the necessary measures required by the legislation of Azerbaijan and international agreements concluded by the parties to confiscate property located abroad and return this property or its value to the country.

The amendments to the Code will come into force on 1 July 2020.

Changes to the Code were put to the vote after discussion and adopted in the 3rd reading.
